Music from Argentina is a lot more varied than most people think. There is a lot more to the music of Argentina than Tango or the Milonga. Argentina have music from traditonal to Ska. Bands such as Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are massive in Argentina and across the Spanish Speaking countries with their brand of Rock/Ska, they can count Celia Cruz as singing a duet on a classic of theirs called Vasos Vacios. Andres Calamaro is also a big draw in both Argentina and Spain as well as the Spanish Speaking America’s for is Rock music.
There are also Mercedes Sosa and Atahualpa Yupanqui who are legends within Argentine folk music as well as the Nueva Cancion that was sweeping through Chile, Argentina and Uruguay during the 70′s.
As for Argentine Tango there are many legends such as Carlos Gardel, Osvaldo Pugliese, Astor Piazolla to name but a few also in the Tango genre is the Gotan Project which is an Argentines/French collaboration that bring an Electronic style of Tango adding beats, Rap, Hip Hop, House and Electronica to the field of Tango not for the purists but hugely popular across the globe.
